What Is Your Goal?
"To succeed in your mission, you must have single-minded devotion to your goal."
— Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
During my school days at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Karimnagar, I was fortunate to be mentored by many dedicated teachers. Among them, Sri Suprasanna Charyulu garu, our Telugu teacher, left a lasting impression. His voice still echoes in my mind:
“You should have zeal to reach your goal.”
He didn’t just say it—he lived it. He taught it, explained it, and instilled it in our minds. His words lit a spark in many of us, pushing us to dream bigger and aim higher.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, zeal means “great enthusiasm or eagerness.” And indeed, it is this unwavering drive—fueled by passion and purpose—that separates a fleeting wish from a lasting goal.
But here's a question we must all ask ourselves:
Are we still chasing that goal with the same zeal?
Where Are We Now?
As children, we laughed, dreamed, and envisioned our future with unshakable belief. Fast forward to today—how many of those dreams remain alive?
Some of us have achieved what we set out for. Others may find themselves saying “Not yet” or even “No.” And that’s okay—but why?
We often cite external reasons:
Family responsibilities. Financial burdens. Lack of support. Wrong choices.
But if we look inward, we might discover the real obstacle—ourselves.
We allowed fear, doubt, distractions, or complacency to overtake our enthusiasm. Sometimes, we followed paths that others laid for us—not because they were right, but because they were easy.
The truth is: reaching any meaningful goal demands effort, struggle, and above all, persistence.
Fuel Your Goal with Purpose
Think Positively
Negative thoughts are like anchors—they slow us down or keep us stuck. Even if 99% of your attempts failed, that 1% of success is hope. And hope, when partnered with perseverance, becomes your fuel.
Never Forget Your Goal
Life isn’t a straight road. Responsibilities may delay your journey—but remember: delayed is not denied. Many people, especially women, return to study, work, or pursue dreams later in life. Be inspired. Be prepared. Opportunity will knock again—answer it.
Think Like a Leader, Not Just a Winner
In a race, only one can win. But a leader? A leader lifts others along the way. Don’t strive just to be first. Strive to help others rise with you. True success lies in empowerment.
Have Patience
Success is never instant. It’s built brick by brick—with effort, failure, learning, and resilience. Be patient. Your dreams are worth the wait.
Never Stop
You may pause. You may fall. But don’t stop. As long as you keep moving—even slowly—you’re still in the race. You’re still in pursuit
Your Goal is Yours Alone
At the end of the day, your dream is your responsibility. Own it. Protect it. Fight for it. No one else can chase it for you.
"The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be."
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
You already have the fire within you. And no matter how far life may have taken you from your original path—it’s never too late to begin again.
So…
What is your goal?
Take a deep breath. Reconnect with it.
Then, take that next step. And keep going.
